The Special Task Force (STF) of Police has arrested three associates of an underworld leader in in connection with the assassination of SLPP Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipal Councilor K. Ranjan de Silva, father of national cricketer Dananjaya de Silva.
The police arrested a relative of the underworld leader Sinhara Amal Silva alias ‘Kudu Anju’ identified as Lama Hewage Nihal Dissanayake alias “Beba” Thursday (May 31).
The other two suspects identified by their aliases as “Angulana Roshan” and “Bayiya” have been arrested in the Angulana area Thursday by a special police team.
They are also members of an organized criminal gang.
The three suspects were arrested on charges of aiding and abetting the killing.
Ranjan de Silva, who was elected to Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Urban Council from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) at the last local government election in February, was gunned down on May 24th by three men using a T-56 assault rifle.
