‘Nattami’ is the name given to a labourer in Pettah who carries and moves goods to and from shops, by manually pulling carts loaded with the goods.
They have been seriously affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
A number of stores in Pettah have been closed since the second wave of the pandemic hit.
With a few employees of the shops in Pettah testing positive for Covid-19, some stores were marked as isolated areas to quarantine suspected employees.
