The Director of the Medical Research Institute Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara has said that 11 out of the 12 samples received so far are free of coronavirus.
Hospital sources say that the Chinese woman who was infected with coronavirus and is being treated at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) in Colombo, is recovering.
Meanwhile, 661 Sri Lankans including 448 students from China have arrived in the country in the last four days.
The Director General of the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, Dr. Sudath Samaraweera says the health units have been successful in preventing the spread of coronavirus. However, he said the public assistance is needed for the program to be successful.
The official requested the public not to be alarmed unnecessarily and follow the instructions issued by the Ministry of Health.
The Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe has advised the public to take immediate action and go to the nearest hospital if they develop any symptoms suspected to be of a coronavirus infection.
Meanwhile, the Epidemiology Unit has issued following instructions for the people including students and foreign nationals returning to the country from high risk areas.
