The 33 Sri Lankan students, who returned from Wuhan, China and quarantined at the Diyatalawa Army Camp due to the new COVID-19 virus, were released this morning, Army spokesman Brigadier Chandana Wickramasinghe said.
An Army bus carrying the students had left the Diyatalawa Army Camp around 10:00 am for Army Headquarters in Akuregoda.
They are due to meet the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva at the Army Headquarters before leaving for their homes.
Following the coronavirus outbreak, the 33 Sri Lankans who were living in Wuhan, China, were brought to the island on the 1st February and quarantined in a special unit set up in the Diyatalawa Army Camp for 14 days. They have not shown any symptoms of the coronavirus infection during the 14-day isolation period.
