Former CID Director SSP Shani Abeysekera filed a fundamental rights petition in the Supreme Court saying it was a violation of his human rights to demote him as the personal assistant to the Southern Province DIG.
He is seeking Court to cancel his demotion and re-instate him in his previous post and requesting Court to order a payment of Rs.10 million as compensation.
The SSP had cited the acting IGP, Chairman of the National Police Commission, the Attorney General and seventeen others as respondents.
