U.S diplomat Julie Chung has been nominated the country’s next ambassador to Sri Lanka by President Joe Biden.
Her appointment needs to be confirmed by the Senate before she can head to Sri Lanka and carry out her new duties.
Ms Chung has served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and Economic Counsellor at the US Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand.
