Minister Wimal Weerawansa says that for the first time in the history of Sri Lanka and the World, three members of the cabinet have informed the courts through a lawyer that the cabinet papers regarding the Yagadanavi power plant agreement were not formally discussed within the cabinet.
Weerawansa said that the controversial Yugadanavi power plant agreement with New Fortress Energy group was tabled in the cabinet two week back and that he raised his concerns about it in writing as it contains factors unfavorable to the country.
The minister reiterated that this is the first time in the history that 3 cabinet ministers reported their independent views to the courts regarding a cabinet paper which is said to have been passed by the cabinet.
A copy of the controversial Yugadanavi agreement was tabled in Parliament by Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Friday (10). The MP said that he tabled the agreement since the Government failed to do so despite many requests.
