Russian Federation’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Yury Materiy, called on the Foreign Affairs Minister Professor G.L. Peiris on June 29, 2022 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Foreign Minister Peiris and Ambassador Materiy discussed several issues aimed at enhancing the multi-faceted bilateral relations, which celebrated its 65th anniversary in 2022.
Foreign Minister Peiris briefed Ambassador Materiy on several steps taken to overcome the economic crisis faced by Sri Lanka and observed the critical situation particularly regarding fuel.
Ambassador Materiy assured the Minister of the Russian Federation’s assistance to Sri Lanka and encouraged closer collaboration on pending engagements to further strengthen the bilateral ties.
