The Chairman of Elections Commission Mahinda Deshapriya has summoned secretaries of all political parties for a meeting today (26) to discuss future elections including the Provincial Council elections.
Head of the Elections Commission said a collective decision will be reached at today’s meeting with regard to the electoral system for future elections.
A new mixed electoral system consisting of the proportional representation system and the first-past-the-post system was used for the Local Government Elections held in February 2018.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Elections Secretariat at 10 am. Secretaries of political parties that are not represented in Parliament have also been invited.
