JHU General Secretary, Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka says that there are around 1,700 cases related to fraud, corruption and crimes including the cases of Thajudeen’s murder and MiG deal that require action.
Ranawaka has said that the cases needs to be taken up fast and the country is waiting to see proper action being taken against the perpetrators.
The Minister has noted that apart from ensuring the independence of the judiciary, it needs to function more efficiently and in a modern manner.

According to Ranawaka, elements associated with the Rajapaksas and the joint opposition were trying to block action being taken on the fraud, corruption and crime cases of the previous regime.
