Afghan security guards who are employed at the Australian embassy have been publicly threatened and warned by the Taliban for cooperating with a foreign government.
The Australian government announced that it was shutting its embassy in Kabul stating “an increasingly uncertain security environment” as well as the safety of their diplomats.
Anyone who has worked for or alongside foreign governments or their military forces is a traitor and an enemy and will be targeted, the Taliban stated.
Plans are under development by the US military to evacuate interpreters and other staff who worked alongside American troops.
