Sri Lanka central bank chief Ajith Nivard Cabraal at a meeting with bankers has confirmed that the Sri Lankan Rupee is floated, Financial news website EconomyNext reported.
“The currency is floated,” Central Bank Governor Nivard Cabraal told EconomyNext on Wednesday.
“Inter Bank forex trade quoted dollar at 240/255 following governor indicated the CEOs of the commercial banks that there is no cap from Central Bank” Journalist Ranga Srilal tweeted.
Government MP Prof. Ranjith Bandara also told Ada Derana today that the Rs 230 to the US dollar was just a guidance and the rate could increase or decrease.
