The Criminal investigations Department (CID) of Sri Lanka Police is seeking public support to find former Navy Lieutenant Commander Prasad Chandana Hettiarachchi, who is a suspect of the abduction and disappearance of 11 youths in Colombo in 2008-2009.
Fort Magistrate earlier this year issued a red notice to arrest the suspect, who is currently absconding.
The CID last week informed the Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne that the investigations are being conducted to arrest the suspect.
The CID believes that he is in Sri Lanka and is being harbored by certain parties. The CID warns however, that legal action will be taken against anyone found to harbor the fugitive.
The CID has issued the following information regarding the suspect.
Suspect name: Hettiarachchi Mudiyanselage Chandana Prasad Hettiarachchi alias ‘Satvi Sampath’, born on 1977.02.09, is a resident at No. 54/1, Wennawatta, Wellampitiya, address. His National Identity Card number is 770402930V and the passport number is 484721.
The Former Navy Lieutenant Commander is married and a resident of to Wellampitiya Police Division. He bears a slim body with a light complexion.

The police warn that legal action will be taken against anyone providing accommodation to or abetting the suspect.
Former Naval Media Spokesperson Commodore DKP Dassanayake and five others including three naval officers were arrested last year in connection with the abduction of 11 youths including six international school students and five university students in 2008 and 2009. Subsequent to their arrest, the suspects were remanded. They were granted bail on 9th January this year and released pending the case.
