Ceylon Motor Traders Association (CMTA) is to develop a policy document, detailing a future mobility plan for Sri Lanka said Sheran Fernando, President of CMTA and Chairman of SML Frontier Automotive (Pvt) Ltd. He said the CMTA is engaged with international applied research agencies, and international donors to create this plan and once created, the association will work closely with the Government towards the implementation of the recommended policy.

 

Fernando told this at the 99th Annual General Meeting of the Ceylon Motor Traders Association (CMTA) last week. CMTA is affiliated to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. CMTA represents all major international automotive manufacturers, through their agents. The members of the CMTA collectively employs and trains thousands of Sri Lankan citizens. They bring in international best practices in engineering and management, making the pool that are trained, employable internationally. The Ceylon Motor Traders Association is widely accepted as the voice of the Sri Lankan Automotive Industry.

 

The following members were elected for the Executive Committee of the CMTA;

Sheran Fernando of SML Frontier Automotive (Pvt) Ltd was elected as Chairman while Yasendra Amerasinghe of CarMart (Pvt) Ltd as Senior Vice Chairman, Niranga Pieris of Prestige Automobile (Pvt) Ltd as Vice Chairman Reeza Rauf of Senok Trade Combine (Pvt) Ltd as immediate Past Chairman.

Meanwhile the following companies were elected for the representation Committee. Associated Motorways (Pvt) Ltd, David Pieris Motor Co Ltd, Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC, Drive-One (Pvt) Ltd, Kia Motors Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, McLarens Lubricants (Pvt) Ltd, Sathosa Motors PLC, Stafford Motor Co Ltd, The Autodrome PLC, Toyota Lanka (Pvt) Ltd.
