The Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has instructed the education officials to submit a report on recent incidents where some school children were misled and forced by some parties to participate in protests and rallies.
The Minister has instructed the officials to conduct a special investigation into these incidents and submit a report.
The Education Ministry has received complaints from public that certain politcal parties with narrow political goals are persuading school students to engage in protests and rallies without the knowledge of their teachers or parents.
Most of them stated that these parties are staying in close proximity to schools and are trying to force students to take part in the activities.
Some people have used even children studying in primary schools for their political activities, the parents have complained.
Many parents have said that it is regrettable that schoolchildren, who are enjoying the benefits of free education, are being pressured by the extremist groups sabotaging the education of the children for their political needs.
