Grandpass 17-year-old murder : 6 youngsters arrested

Six underage children who were arrested over the murder of a 17-year-old youth in Grandpass due to an alleged dispute over a TikTok video have been remanded till the 7th of January.

The suspects who were arrested by the Grandpass Police were ordered to be remanded by the Colombo Additional Magistrate’s Court today.

The children have been instructed to be detained at the Makola Childrens Home under the supervision of prison officials.

The Police said the suspects are aged between 12- 16 years.

Meanwhile, the mother of the youth who was stabbed to death in Grandpass has revealed that the murder may have not taken place due to a dispute over a TikTok video.

The 17-year-old youth had been stabbed by another person from behind while walking on the road with his friends in the Grandpass area.

Police suspects that the murder had taken place due to a dispute over a video created on the social media platform TikTok.

Speaking to the media, the mother of the victim has voiced suspicion over the incident, claiming that it could have taken place over a love affair.

She said the victim had informed her that he was involved with a girl who was the daughter of a businessman from the Panadura area.

Stating that there is a possibility for the murder to have taken place over the love affair, the mother of the youth has called on the authorities to investigate the matter.
