Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has decided to resign from the purported post of Prime Minister.
Taking to twitter MP Namal Rajapaksa said Mahinda Rajapaksa will address the nation and step down.
The MP said the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna with Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party will work to form a broader political coalition with President Maithripala Sirisena.
Mahinda Rajapaksa was appointed Prime Minister on the 26th of October but several No-Confidence Motions tabled against him were passed in Parliament with a majority vote.
