PM in good health, rumours false – PMMD

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said he is in good health and scoffed at propaganda that he is being treated in a hospital as completely false. The Prime Minister was commenting to media on the false propaganda spread by an organized group on social media that the Prime Minister was being treated in hospital.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that he has not visited a hospital in recent times even to see a patient.

The Prime Minister said that he is still engaging in his customary exercises and is in good health.

The propaganda that the Prime Minister is being treated in a private hospital for an illness is completely false, the Prime Minister’s Media Division (PMMD) said. Meanwhile, expressing his views to a local radio channel Prime Minister Rajapaksa once again invited the youth engaged in protesting at the Galle Face Green in Colombo for talks.

If they did not attend, they would have to continue their struggle, he added.On the proposal for an Interim Government, the Prime Minister said even if an Interim Government is established he would still be the Prime Minister.The Prime Minister questioned how an Interim Government could be formed in the absence of any co-operation.

Rajapaksa said he acknowledges that the country was in a difficult position and that the government had the strength to lift the country out of the crisis.

He added that there were many instances in history when the country faced more severe crises.
