Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has decided to complain to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) against the persons who have been allegedly involved in “Pitch Fixing” as reported in the Al Jazeera documentary.

Accordingly, the cricket board has made a complaint to the CID on Monday (28) requesting a comprehensive investigation into the allegations.

The SLC has already suspended three individuals over the incident and is fully supportive of all the investigations carried out by the International Cricket Council and the CID, Vice President of SLC Mohan De Silva said.

Consequent to a letter received from the Minister of Sports Faiszer Mustapha with regard to the alleged ‘pitch fixing’ incident, the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket convened an Emergency Meeting Sunday and decided to hand over the matter to the CID.

The Executive Board also decided to suspend with immediate effect the alleged individuals involved in the said incident against whom ICC is carrying out investigations.

SLC said it will fully cooperate and offer all assistance to the ICC on its investigations on the said Al Jazeera documentary which has wider allegations globally.

Al Jazeera’s television broadcast said the Sri Lanka-Australia Test match in Galle ended in a two and half days and three Sri Lankans were involved in a match-fixing incident.

The two Sri Lankan individuals exposed in the Al Jazeera’s documentary, Cricket’s Match-Fixers, are Jeevantha Kulatunga, a former coach of the Sri Lanka women’s team, and Dilhara Lokuhettige, who has played 11 times for Sri Lanka.

SLC has appointed a three- member committee consisting of Mohan de Silva, Air Commodore Roshan Biyanwila and Channa Weerakkody to submit a report within three days, making recommendations on the existing protocols; applying to the Management and Staff of every venue and to implement safeguards to prevent occurrences of such incidents in the future.
