The Government of Sri Lanka maintains a ‘US Dollar’ account at the Central Bank.
This account saw $292.1 Million being credited to it today, as announced by the Central Bank itself.
Sri Lanka were due to receive this money, which are proceeds from China Merchant Port Holdings Co. Ltd on Account of Handing Over of Operations of Hambantota Port.
According to the Central Bank, subsequent to the agreement signed between Sri Lanka Ports Authority and the China Merchant Port Holdings Co. Ltd., the proceeds were credited to its dollar account.
