Sri Lanka has reportedly requested a US$ 300 million credit line from Russia to purchase Crude oil, Gas and Coal, Hirunews reported.

Sri Lanka is currently facing a massive foreign currency crisis.

It’s not clear whether the request was put forward before or after Russia invading Ukraine.

Sri Lanka abstained during the UN vote against Russia.

Meanwhile, Russian trade delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade visited Sri Lanka this week.  Deputy Minister also paid a courtesy call to meet Sri Lanka Prime Minsiter Mahinda Rajapaksa to canvass support towards Expo 2030 to be hosted in Russia.
