Third COVID-19 death recorded in Sri Lanka

The patient, a 73-year-old from Maradana, tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday (01) has died, marking the third death reported in Sri Lanka

He had succumbed to the virus on admission to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) in Angoda, Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said.

The deceased had been suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure and chronic kidney disease.

Dr. Jasinghe added that the patient was in a critical condition at the time of hospitalization.

This brings the number of fatalities in Sri Lanka from the COVID-19 outbreak to 3.
