Three people have died after drowning while bathing at Ellewala waterfall in Ella today (5).
Wellawaya Police say that all 3 victims are males and preliminary investigations have revealed that they are from Matara area.
Two bodies have been recovered so far and operations are underway to recover the other body too, the police said.
The bodies have been taken to the Monaraga – Sirigala hospital to carry out the autopsies.
The police say that these people have drowned in a place where people have drowned in the past too. They also say that even signboards have been placed that it’s not a suitable place to bathe.
Three persons from the same family died in a similar incident late last year.
