United States Assistant Secretary of State for South & Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, describes Sri Lanka’s economic recovery as the greatest comeback story.

The wonderful carrot went to an all time high of Rs 2,000 per kilogram. That is approximately USD 6.40 per kilogram.

Now the per capita gdp in the USA is USD 70,200

The per capital GDP in Sri Lanka is reportedly USD 3,500

Now I don’t know intellectual spin from the master of spin at wherever they trot out this sort of thing

BUT

I do know there is something wrong when the most powerful nation on earth has a per capita GDP of $70,000 and sells carrots at around US$ 3.00 per kilogram

And tiny likkle Sri Lan with its per capital GDP around USD 3,500 sells carrots at US$ 6.55 per kilogram

and not a lot of people knew that.
