Sri Lanka army said at the request of the Police, a contingent of about 200 Army personnel have been deployed to stand by and assist the Police following the tense situation that has erupted in the general area of Theldeniya Police Division on Monday (05).
Reports said that a clash between two groups that caused death to one of them had sparked off the tense situation on the day of the funeral of the victim.
At the request of the Police, a contingent of about 200 Army personnel of the 11 Division under the Security Force Headquarters – Central (SFHQ-Cen) are now on standby in affected areas.
Meanwhile, a Police curfew has been imposed in the Kandy administrative district until 6.00 am on Tuesday (06).
