Buying frozen food : Notice from PHIs

The Public Health Inspectors Union says that it has taken legal action against 387 vendors for selling substandard frozen food in the market.

Its chairman Upul Rohana says that action was taken following raids carried out during the last two weeks based on complaints received from consumers.

Upul Rohana further said that after further investigations, it has been revealed that the quality of food stored inside refrigerators has deteriorated due to the frequent power cuts.

He urged consumers to be mindful of this when buying frozen food in the market.

It is reported that mainly the quality of meat and dairy products stored in refrigerators has impacted due to the power cuts experienced in the past weeks.
