All digital technology services and technology projects under ICTA

Defense Ministry Secretary Major General Kamal Gunaratne said that the government has decided to operate all digital technology services and technology projects that are implemented under all the ministries and public sector institutions and affect the public, under the management and the supervision of the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) of Sri Lanka.

Defense Secretary Major General Kamal Gunaratne made this announcement addressing the staff of the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) this morning (23).

Speaking further the Defense Secretary said that the decision was made by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in order to implement the government’s digitalization policy more productively.

He said the Information and Communication Technology Agency was taken over by the Ministry of Defense which has the largest number of ministries because of its importance and necessity. The Secretary said the President has given the necessary strength to achieve his objectives and stressed the need or everyone’s dedication and commitment to achieve the relevant goals. The Chairperson of ICTA, Jayantha de Silva, members of the Board of Directors, Prof. Lalith Gamage, Dr. Sanjeewa Weeravarna, Reshan Dewapura, Wasantha Deshapriya, Manori Unambuwe and Chief Executive Officer Mahinda B. Herath, Chief Technology Officer Hiranya Samarasekara and other officials were present at the occasion.
