Sri Lanka’s State Minister of Capital Markets Ajith Nivard Cabraal has formally resigned his role as a Member of Parliament. Mr Cabraal was appointed to the position as a nominzted Member of Parliament from the Rajapaksa-dominated SLPP political party.
Ajith Nivard Cabraal has alread served two terms as the Governor of Sri Lanka’s Central Bank under the Mahinda Rajapaksa administration.
He is expected to assume the role of Governor, Central Bank of Sri Lanka as early as Wednesday afternoon 15th of September 2021.

It is believed that Mr Cabraal on taking up the appointment will set a new record becoming the first person ever to serve the Central Bank as Governor for three times.
