Former MP’s relative arrested for rape

The Sri Lanka Police arrested the brother-in-law of former Minister Bathiudeen over allegations of sexually abusing a 22-year-old domestic worker at the official residence of the former MP between 2015-2019.

According to the Police Media Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana, 20 statements were recorded by Sri Lanka Police over the death of a 16-year-old girl employed at the residence of the Ex-Minister as a domestic servant. Two of these statements were from domestic workers who served at the former minister’s house previously over the death of the 16-year-old girl.

The 44-year-old will be produced in the court on Friday (23 July).
