Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has issued directives to conduct the funeral of acclaimed film maker Dr. Lester James Peiris with under patronage.
Accordingly, the funeral of Dr. Lester James Peiris will be held on Wednesday (02) at the Independence Square from 4 pm onwards.
Internationally acclaimed Sri Lankan film producer and film director Dr. Lester James Peiris passed away on Sunday night while receiving treatments at a private Hospital in Colombo. He was 99 years old at the time of his death.
On April 05, Dr. Peiris celebrated his 99th birthday under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at his residence in Thimbirigasyaya.
During his last meeting with Mr. Peiris, President Sirisena commended the internationally acclaimed film producer and film director for rendering an immeasurable service to Sri Lankan film industry.
