The Police say an employee of a tourist hotel in Uppuveli, Trincomalee was arrested for attempting to sexually harass two American women who were having lunch at the hotel yesterday.
According to the police, the two American women are part of the crew in the USNS Mercy hospital ship docked in the Trincomalee harbor currently taking part in the Pacific Partnership mission.
The crew of the ship is working side-by-side with their Sri Lankan counterparts in medical and engineering projects throughout the local community.
The two crew members have visited the local hotel for lunch during a break from their work, Lankadeepa reported.
The USNS Mercy mission in Trincomalee commenced with the ship’s arrival on April 25 will conclude today (May 8).
