The details revealed by News1st of the saga surrounding the Mahapola Trust Fund and its two subsidiaries is testimony to the yearning for the truth by the people of Sri Lanka via the media.
It is clear that the people have grown weary of their political leaders of legislators who appear intent on making illegal gains whilst ignoring the will and the needs of the people of Sri Lanka.
The amount of lies put forth by our legislators has reached a stage where most people simply do not bother being concerned. Instead the people have resolved to become savvy and develop their patience levels.
In the sordid Mahapola incident the businessman Asanga Seneviratne found himself appointed as the Chairman of a Mahapola company, Natwealth. A company connected to Asanga Seneviratne Nation Lanka Finance then found that one of the top twenty shareholders was none other than Natwealth. We are not suggesting impropriety but we are stating that Asanga Seneviratne may well have been best advised to not proceed with that transaction. The conscience of no less than the Supreme Court had been troubled on some matters of national import. Mr Seneviratnes conscience should have been working full steam especially because he was in effect connected to both companies.
In Sri Lanka greed has corrupted the very souls of our politicians and most of those in authority.
Sadly Sri Lanka is set on a course where our politicians will never learn from their mistakes and where they truly and verily believe that once in power they have an exclusive almost ecclesiastically given right to rob the people.
