POLLS AS PLANNED – DESPITE COVID19

Parliamentary polls in Sri Lanka planned for April 25th will go ahead despite the Corona virus pandemic.

The front runners appear to be the alliance in effect led by Mahinda Rajapaksa who remains the only man to have served in almost every conceivable position of leadership.

Bringing up the opposition must surely be Saith Premadasa who has confirmed his SJB alliance will use the telephone as the symbolon polling forms.

Undoubtedly this will create a certain uncertainty amongst those who have previously voted the elephant symbol.

That is precisely – say Premadasa sympathisers – what Ranil Wickremesinghe has intended to do.
