SL Tea Board representatives hold special meeting with Ambassador of Russia

A special meeting was held on Tuesday between the Russian Ambassador and the Ceylon Tea Board representatives to resolve the temporary ban imposed by Russia on tea exports.

The Commissioner of the Ceylon Tea Board Jayantha Edirisinge said that the discussions ended positively.

The Commissioner also said that a board of six people, including the Chairman of the Ceylon Tea Board is already prepared to leave for Russia to hold discussions about the issue.

However,  Commissioner Jayantha Edirisinghe further said that a date had not yet been allotted by the Russian Authorities to hold discussions

Meanwhile, Rohan Pethiyagoda, Chairman of the Tea Board, said that a fragrant species from the USA will be brought into the country to inspect whether the insect found in Russia’s port is in the rest of the country.
