Sri Lanka needs a national strategic defense plan – Field Marshal Fonseka

The budget for both Ministries of Law and Order and Southern Development and Ministry of National Policy and Economic Affairs were passed in parliament today (18).

Minister of Regional Development, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka participating in the debate said that the country needs a national strategic defense plan.

Minister Fonseka said that all security forces, the Police, and Civil Defense Forces made the supreme sacrifices during the war. “Although they won the war, we still do not have a proper national strategic defense plan,” the Minister said adding that the country urgently needs a plan. .

He said that it is extremely necessary to increase the salaries and allowances of security forces now. “They have two live, one being the military life and other being their private life. The status of an army personnel in any country of the world should be at a high level whether there is a war or the country at peace, he said.

The Minister reiterated that the proper position should be given to those in the security forces.
