Sri Lankan delegation visiting India to study women’s role in local governance mechanism

A the 12-member Sri Lankan delegation led by the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Faizer Mustapha is on a visit to Kerala to study the local governance mechanism in the Indian state. The delegation of chief secretaries of Northern, Eastern, Uva province and other officials visited the Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA) in Thrissur on Sunday, the New Indian express reported. Sri Lankan President to leave for South Korea today on an official visit

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena will leave for South Korea today on a three-day state visit from 28 to 30 November 2017 at the invitation of South Korean President Moon Jae-in. President's visit aims to strengthen diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the Republic of South Korea. The visit coincides with the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. According to a statement by the South Korean President's office President Sirisena is scheduled to start off the visit by paying tribute at the Seoul National Cemetery on November 29. Nobel prize winner Dr. Cardozo is to visit Northern Province

Nobel Laureate, Dr. Barbara Lopes Cardozo is to visit Sri Lanka to conduct research on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) of war victims in the North. Dr. Barbara Cardozo has served in many countries, and is a founding member of Doctors Without Borders-Holland. She won the Nobel Price award in the year 1999 and has treated victims of natural disasters and man-made disasters. She is to visit the Northern Province, to observe incidence and cases  of post-traumatic stress disorder. Her tour is scheduled from   November 28 to December 1, 2017. She will also participate in several meetings with specialists in the field of psychiatry and community medicine in Jaffna and is to meet the Health Minister of the Northern Province.

Chinese PLA Navy ship Qi Jiguang arrives at the port of Colombo in Sri Lanka on a goodwill visit

Sri Lanka Navy, in accordance with naval traditions, ceremonially welcomed China's People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) ship Qi Jiguang arrived at the port of Colombo on a goodwill visit today (10th November). French President Macron makes surprise visit to Saudi

French President Emmanuel Macron has paid an unscheduled visit to Saudi Arabia amid an escalating crisis between the kingdom and Lebanon. His trip comes days after Lebanese PM Saad Hariri resigned while in Riyadh, saying he feared for his life. The French president was in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday to open the Louvre Abu Dhabi, a spin-off of the famous Paris art museum. U.S. Under Secretary of State Shannon to visit Sri Lanka next week

Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Ambassador Thomas A. Shannon will visit Sri Lanka next week to take part in the next round of the U.S. - Sri Lanka Partnership Dialogue. Under Secretary Shannon will travel to Colombo on November 6, where he will co-lead the U.S.-Sri Lanka Partnership Dialogue and meet with government and non-government officials, the State Department said. The U.S. - Sri Lanka Partnership Dialogue, inaugurated in 2016, is a regularly planned policy consultation designed to advance the common agenda and opportunities for cooperation across the full range of bilateral and regional issues. Pakistan Naval Ship SAIF due in Sri Lanka on a goodwill visit

EU delegation to visit Sri Lanka this week

A four-member delegation from the European Parliament, led by MEP Jean Lambert, will visit Sri Lanka this week, the Delegation of the European Union to Sri Lanka and the Maldives in Colombo announced. The delegation will meet government and civil society representatives to discuss Sri Lanka's progress on national reconciliation and its implementation of the international conventions applicable to GSP+. The MEPs will also visit EU-funded projects in the North and will conduct an inter-parliamentary dialogue.
