829 persons have been arrested within 24 hours for flouting quarantine regulations, Sri Lanka Police said.
According to the Police Media Spokesperson, this was the highest number of arrests to be made in a single day since the implementation of the law in October 2020.
Some of the suspects were released on bail, while the others will be produced in court today (28) and will be charged under the quarantine law.
The majority of the suspects were arrested in Matale, with 180 arrests.
