A 19-year-old from Kahatapitiya, Gampola has been arrested for spreading fake news online and the mobile device used was taken into cusotdy.
Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said the arrest was on information provided by intelligence agencies.
The fake news spread by the suspect had caused disharmony among certain ethnic and religious groups, he added.
