Student arrested for inciting racial hatred on social media remanded

Another student arrested for inciting racial hatred on social media has been remanded until the 26th of this month.

The Colombo Chief Magistrate Lal Ranasinghe ordered to remand the student at the Youth Detention Center at Makola when he was produced in Court on Monday.

The student was taken into custody by the Criminal Investigations Department on charges of spreading false reports. It is reported that the suspect is a student of a leading school in Colombo.

Two students, who were residents of Homagama and Minuwangoda, were arrested earlier over similar charges. They were ordered to be detained at the Youth Detention Centre at Makola until 22 March.
