Rs. 400 million allocated to pay compensation to Sri Lanka’s politically victimized

Plantation Industries Minister Navin Dissanayake said that the cabinet has approved an allocation of Rs. 400 million to compensate those who have been politically victimized.

He said about 90 percent of the work in this regard has been completed and the reparations will be made as soon as the money is released from the Treasury.

Minister Navin Dissanayake made these revelations participating in the “Rich Country from Gamperaliya” seminar held in the Anamaduwa area recently,

The Minister also distributed agriculture equipment to all those who attended the seminar.

Speaking about the elections, the National Organizer of the United National Party (UNP) said the party has no divisions and the it is working with the knowledge of people’s opinion.

“We will definitely present the best person who can identify the people’s consciousness and win. It is necessary for the party to move this battle forward unitedly with no internal rifts,” he said.

The Minister further said that the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has implemented a plant to provide around 7000 jobs as soon as possible.

“The second program is employment. There should be people with educational qualifications as well as vacancies. But our duty is to provide employment for at least some people. Accordingly, the party leadership has decided to provide 6000 to 7000 jobs. By next month it would be possible to provide about 100 jobs.”

The third goal is the development of the electorates and the Treasury has provided Rs. 100 million for the development of each electorate, the Minister said.

The fourth is the Samurdhi benefits and in each electorates Samurdhi benefits will be provided to 1000 new beneficiaries, he said.

“Although the SLFP vote is limited to only one family today, the UNP is open and anyone can take the leadership. The third goals of this seminar to develop the electorate is very important. Accordingly, it is necessary to organize at divisional level to win. While the UNP is a democratic political party and it is necessary to correct the wrongs and clarify misconceptions,” Minister Navin Dissanayake said.
