The transfers given to 72 Officers-in Charge (OICs) of police stations by the Inspector General Of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundera have been revoked.
According to a police report, the transfers have been made with the approval of the National Police Commission with immediate effect, based on service requirements.
However, within 48 hours of the transfer order, the IGP has issued another police notice cancelling the transfers.
The notice reportedly has said the transfer order was rescinded on the instructions of the Defense Secretary and the National Police Commission.
