In a media release, the State Ministry of National Security, Home Affairs and Disaster Management said 06 employees of its Investigation Division and 02 drivers have contracted the virus.
Refuting the claims saying that the Ministry is temporarily closed, the Ministry stated that they are functioning as usual.
The infected have been directed to medical care and their tier 1 contacts have been placed under quarantine.

State Minister Chamal Rajapaksa and Secretary to the State Ministry Major General (Retired) Kamal Gunaratne have not been identified as close contacts of the employees who tested positive for the virus.
