The Election Commission says that displaying of cut-outs and posters using politicians’ images is against election law.
Police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara said that action would be taken against candidates engaging in propaganda using their images.
Similarly, a candidate could display in his party office only his photograph and his political party leader’s image.
Additional Election Commissioner Saman Sri Ratnayake has mentioned that action would be taken regarding the display of cut-outs and posters illegally using candidates’ and politicians’ images.
