Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed a three member advisory council to make recommendations and decisions under Section 13 of the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
According to the President’s Media Division (PMD) the council will be headed by former Chief Justice Ashoka de Silva.
Retired High Court Judge A.A.R. Heiyanthuduwa and retired Solicitor General Suhada Gamlath are the other members in the council.
The panel has been tasked with analyzing and making recommendations to the President on future decisions, including the investigation, release and granting bail of prisoners and detainees for their involvement in terrorist activities.
