The Colombo Magistrate has reminded the Attorney General to inform the court in action taken with regard to the controversial statement made by State Minister of Education Vijayakala Maheswaran on the revival of the LTTE.
Addressing a state event held at Veerasingam Hall in Jaffna on the 2nd of July 2018, former State Minister of Child Affairs Maheswaran had stated that the LTTE should be resurrected for the freedom of the Tamil people.
The Organized Crime Prevention Division (OCPD) subsequently commenced investigations into the controversial statement made by the State Minister of Education and she was arrested on October 8th 2018.
She was granted bail on a personal bond worth Rs 500,000 on the same day and the case was postponed to December 7th 2018. The case was then taken up in February 2019 and was again postponed to the 10th of May.
