Appropriation Bill: Funds for health & education not sufficient – Dr. Ajantha

Funds allocated for education and health are not sufficient, Dr. Ajantha Perera says, commenting on the appropriation bill that was presented in Parliament recently.

Speaking to media, she said that, when funds allocated for education are reduced, the number of illiterate persons increase, which in turn increases the Government’s voter base.

” Since they are scared that the people will understand who they really are, they have reduced the allocation for education.” She said.

She also questioned the Government as to the reason for funds allocated for health being reduced, while the COVID-19 pandemic is still plaguing the country.

She alleged that when more people get sick, it is easier for the Government to stay in power.
