The Cost of Living Committee had recommended the Consumer Affairs Authority to increase the price of a 400 gram packet of full cream milk powder by Rs. 20 and a kilogram packet by Rs. 50, the Industry and Commerce Ministry said yesterday (04).
It has been reported that the Milk powder companies have rough the permission of the Cost of Living Committee and the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) to increase the price of a kilogram of milk powder by Rs. 100.
The companies say they face difficulties and problems to provide milk powder at the government stipulated prices because of the price increase in world market and the appreciation of the US dollar.
A ministry official said the price increase would not affect the infant milk powder prices.
