A blue parrot that had been reported missing from the National Zoological Gardens in Dehiwala over the last 08 months has been found.

The Dehiwala Zoo said a couple from the Kalubowila area had found the parrot and had handed it over to the zoo last evening.

The parrot is reported to have flown into a nearby house and as no persons had come in search of the bird, the owners of the house had taken care of it.

However, as news of the missing parrot had been reported on the media, the owners of the house had suspected that the bird may be the missing parrot and had brought it to the Dehiwala Zoo.

Officials at the Zoo had thereafter identified it as the missing blue parrot.

Meanwhile, a Macaw that had been reported missing from the Zoo since September 2021 has also been found.

The bird, which is a blue Macaw had escaped from the cage when it had been opened by a Zoo worker.

The Macaw too had been found in the Ratmalana area on Wednesday (26).
