Former Chairman of Sri Lankan Airlines Nishantha Wickramasinghe and former CEO Kapila Chandrasena Thursday appeared before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry, appointed to probe alleged irregularities in connection with Sri Lankan Airlines and Mihin Lanka.
According to a notice that had been issued recently, Nishantha Wickramasinghe and Kapila Chandrasena arrived at the CID office attached to the Presidential Commission, this morning at around 8.30 a.m.
They have been summoned based on the evidence obtained from other witnesses.
The Commission commenced recording of evidence from witnesses from June 4.
The five-member Presidential Commission appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena in February this year is investigating the alleged fraud and corruption that had taken place in the national carrier, SriLankan Airlines the now nonoperational budget carrier Mihin Lanka and the SriLankan Catering (Pvt.) Limited during the period of January 01, 2006 to January 31, 2018.
