Dr Gayan Danthanarayana is the first Sri Lankan do die from Covid-19. He passed away today (Feb 02) at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.
He worked at the Colombo North Teaching Hospital in Ragama until contracting Covid-19.
A number of family members of the deceased have contracted the virus as well.

Dr Danthanarayana was initially admitted to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and was later transferred to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospitals due to complications.
